Paris Hilton police on marijuana charges in Port Elizabeth

With her trip taking an unfortunate turn for the worse, Paris Hilton was detained by police on marijuana charges in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on Friday (July 2).

In town for the World Cup festivities, the hotel heiress was said to have been spotted puffing on a joint during the quarterfinal match between the Netherlands and Brazil at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
According to Dispatch Online, Miss Hilton was escorted by officers from the grounds to a police station in St Croix just before 8PM local time.

After spending a brief amount of time in custody, it was realized that one of Paris's entourage members was the guilty party - with police immediately releasing Miss Hilton.

Her rep tells TMZ, "Paris was detained and questioned by police, after someone in her entourage allegedly was caught smoking marijuana at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, where the World Cup is being held."
The report adds that the drug offender has since entered a guilty plea and was released upon paying a small fine.
