George Clooney Joins Council on Foreign Relations

George Clooney has joined the Council on Foreign Relations and the likes of Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. Clooney was nominated for lifetime membership to the prestigious independent nonpartisan think tank by Charlie Rose and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof for his Darfur activism. “I’m honoured to have been nominated,” the NY Post’s Daily Beast blog quoted Clooney as saying.

“I look forward to participating in the work and programs of the Council on Foreign Relations. And I hear the initiation ritual is wild.”

He’s not the first Hollywood type to grace the membership roll: Michael Douglas and Warren Beatty are lifetime members, and Angelina Jolie got a team membership in 2007.
